All of the professionals at Brown school are dedicated to the academic, social, and emotional growth of children. We believe that ALL kids do well if they can. When they can't, we strive to find out what is getting in their way to help them solve problems. This simple approach is instrumental to building a collaborative environment focused on finding solutions to problems that work.
At Brown School we teach social competency strategies to help students navigate the social and emotional challenges they face every day. We teach those strategies through the Open Circle curriculum and we have consistent behavioral expectations for all students. With clear expectations and a collaborative problem solving approach, our students build effective communication and collaboration skills that help them be creative thinkers.
The academic curriculum is built upon the common core state standards and common units of study. We use a workshop approach for literacy and the Investigations program for math. Every classroom is outfitted with at least eight devices or laptops that give students opportunities to go beyond the classroom walls to learn. We have vetted multiple applications that match what we want our students to master and they use those applications every day.
