Dear Natick Public Schools Community:
It is with great pleasure and humility that I welcome you to the 2014-2015 school year. I am extremely proud that the Natick Public Schools continues to outdistance many others in this state. This is because our school committee, staff, and community have all done a remarkable job of supporting our students through setting high expectations.
This new school year presents opportunities for new beginnings; new technologies, and new courses. We are all proud of our past achievements and we are ready to build on their success. I would like to highlight the following initiatives and accomplishments, which will allow us to do our exceptional job even better:
- Because of careful budgeting, planning, and a commitment by the Town we have been able to maintain our most valuable asset … our staff. We have increased our staff by eight much-needed members to address our rapidly rising student population.
- The digital conversion for 8th to 12th graders who can take advantage of having their own laptop computer enters its third year. Additional online classes have been added to our curriculum offerings. At the elementary level this year we have added five iPads in every K-4 classroom. Our belief is that technology in the hands of a well-trained teacher can produce unprecedented levels of student achievement.
- It was a busy summer for our custodian and maintenance crew …NHS had some areas repainted and much needed landscaping, additional parking was added to the back of Wilson, new carpeting was added to multiple classrooms at Lilja and Brown, new windows were installed at Johnson, Ben Hem has a new intercom system and all buildings have had their exteriors and interiors updated and cleaned.
