NEW NATICK HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING UPDATE
October 3, 2012
Welcome to the bulletin covering the New Natick High School Building project. This bulletin is a publication of the School Department and the Natick School Committee. We hope you will find these quick updates useful and informative.
What's Going On Now?
See "construction Layout" plan in left margin for orientation to work progress.
The new Natick High School has opened. The building has opened seamlessly and education has started in the most technologically advanced school building yet to be built in Natick.
The final touch-ups are being done after school and on weekends as not to disturb school. These include the completion of the fiberglass trim at the entrances and cafeteria, painting, gym bleachers and a lot of small projects that could not be finished before school started. The 300 KWH rooftop solar power generation system should be finished by the end of October and sometime in November solar power will begin to flow.
As everyone knows the contractor completed the entire new parking area before the first day of school. The landscaping and lights are complete. The installation of the playing fields and tennis courts are underway. If the weather holds, the entire project could be finished before the end of the year. That would be approximately 6 months ahead of schedule.
It is a pleasure to say Natick's design and construction team and Brait Builders completed this building on schedule and under budget. The School Committee and the Building Committee are still at work to complete the entire project and start on the close-out phase with the MSBA.
People have asked what the total size of the new Natick High School? It is 254,892 square feet.
