Our Selection Process

1. Submit your Online Application

Once a position has been posted and advertised, the administrator will begin to review all applications for specific positions. Please be prepared to include supporting information as attachments with your application (i.e. letters of recommendation, a copy of your MA educator's license, transcripts, resume, cover letter).

Important: If applying for a teaching role, It is very important that you clearly state your Massachusetts DESE license area and status in your cover letter and resume since appropriate licensure is a condition of employment in all Massachusetts public schools.

2. Invitation to Interview

The hiring administrator will contact candidates of interest directly via email to schedule an interview. As long as you have completed and submitted the online application, rest assured that we have your information and will follow up with you when appropriate.

While we greatly appreciate your interest in Natick Public Schools, we ask that you do not call to follow up on your application. We currently do not have the capacity to reply to these inquiries. When a position has been filled, it will be removed from the list of open positions on our careers website.

3. Interviews

The interview process will vary depending on the position you are applying for. For teaching positions, short screening interviews are often held to give hiring administrators the opportunity to meet as many viable candidates as possible. The next step is an interview by a committee made up of administrators and subject/grade level teachers. Candidates moving on to the next level will be invited to present a demonstration lesson in front of students.

4. Final Interview with the Superintendent

One or two candidates for each position will be recommended to interview with the Superintendent. The interview will take place in the Superintendent's office on the third floor of Town Hall and will last about 20 minutes. At the conclusion of this interview, the Superintendent will confirm a job offer with the successful candidate.

5. Onboarding

All new professional hires will meet with the Director of Human Resources usually immediately after the interview with the Superintendent. At this meeting, the following will be reviewed:

  • salary will be determined (based on education and years of relevant experience),
  • paperwork will be reviewed to ensure official transcripts and proof of MA licensure have been provided

Once these items have been collected, an official appointment letter will be issued. The HR Director will explain the onboarding process and answer any questions.

Studies have shown that women and people of color don't apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every qualification listed.  Natick Public Schools is most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may be one who comes from a non-traditional background.

We encourage you to apply, even if you don't meet every one of the qualifications.

If you are unsure whether you meet the qualifications of a position, or how your candidacy would be determined, please feel free to talk to one of our hiring administrators, or call Human Resources at 508-647-6502.
