Health Insurance

Natick offers a variety of contributory health insurance plans for employees and their eligible dependents.  These plans are adopted in accordance with Chapter 32-B, as amended, of the General Laws.  Employees are eligible for health insurance if they are regularly employed for 20 hours or more per week for at least 6 months.  Visit the provider websites below for more information.  Click here for some tips on finding a doctor who's right for you.

You have 30 days from your hire date to enroll in insurance plans. Otherwise, you must wait until the next open enrollment period unless you have a "qualifying event."  Qualifying events include marriage, divorce, the birth of a child, adoption of a child, loss of coverage through a spouse, and death of a family member.

Address Change: Employees enrolled in insurance plans are responsible for notifying their provider of an address change.


Health Insurance Opt-Out

If you wish to opt out of health insurance, please complete the Health Insurance Opt-Out form found on this page and return it to Aimee Carnicelli, Benefits Manager, Town Hall. Program details are explained in the form.


Leave of Absence

Employees granted an unpaid leave of absence (with the exception of leave under FMLA), must assume responsibility for total payment of any health, life or dental insurance coverage.  Employees should contact Aimee Carnicelli, Benefits Manager (X6411) to make arrangements to continue insurance coverage for the period of his/her absence.  If arrangements are not made through the Benefits Manager's Office within 30 days of the effective leave date, coverage will be automatically canceled.


Retirement - Continuation of Health Insurance

When you retire, your health insurance may be continued.  Please contact Aimee Carnicelli, Benefits Manager, (508-647-6411) as soon as the date of retirement is known.

Upon leaving the employ of the Town, your health, dental and life insurance coverage will terminate on the first day of the month following the last day of employment.  At this time, an opportunity will be given to continue benefits under COBRA, provided proper notification is given to the Benefits Manager.


Dental Insurance

Delta Dental PPO Plus Premier group insurance is available with 100% employee contribution through Delta Dental of Massachusetts. 


Life Insurance

Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company offers employees a group term voluntary life and accidental death & dismemberment program for you and your family.  Any employee, who wishes to purchase the life insurance outside of the hire dates and open enrollment, may do so by special arrangement. 


Disability Insurance

The Town of Natick offers employees short-term and long-term disability insurance plans for employees that work 30 hours or more per week.  The plans are 100% employee funded.

Lincoln Financial Group offers voluntary long-term disability insurance.

Colonial Supplemental Insurance offers a benefits package that will meet your individual needs with the following voluntary benefits:

  • Cancer Insurance


Flexible Spending Account

All employees of the Town of Natick are eligible to enroll in Flexchoice, a flexible spending account (FSA), through the Sentinel Benefits & Financial Group.  An FSA allows you to set aside salary dollars on a pre-tax basis from which you will be reimbursed for medical or dependent care expenses or both. 

Employees are eligible for insurance plans if they are regularly employed for 20 hours or more per week for at least 6 months.  The only exception is a long-term disability which requires employees to be regularly employed for 30 hours or more per week for at least 6 months.

The Natick Public Schools offers employees the opportunity to enroll in a 403(b) voluntary retirement plan. TSA Consulting Group us our third-party administrator and manages all aspects of the 403(b) voluntary retirement accounts. 457 Deferred Compensation Plan
The Town of Natick offers employees the opportunity to enroll in a 457 voluntary retirement plan.  Northeast Retirement Services is our third-party administrator and manages all aspects of the 457 voluntary retirement account. Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System (MTRS)
The MTRS has a mandatory retirement plan for licensed educators employed on at least a .5 basis.  For more information, please visit the MTRS website.

Town of Natick Contributory Retirement System

OBRA Town of Natick 457 Plan
The Town has a mandatory retirement plan for all part-time [employed for less than 20 hours per week], temporary or seasonal employees.

Employee Assistance Program

The Town of Natick provides a no-cost employee assistance program through the Perspectives EAP.  The program is voluntary and confidential.  Its services are available to provide help to employees and their immediate family members in need of counseling or rehabilitation.  Call The Educators' EAP at 1-800.456.6327 for immediate assistance or to schedule an appointment.  Other valuable resources can be found on their website at perspectivesltd.com
