12/18/20 Superintendent & COVID Tracking Update
Posted on 12/18/2020
´╗┐As we look ahead towards December break next week, we are hoping to encourage families to use the most conservative approach to observing family time for the holidays and new year.
Our guidance about travel for December break is the same as our travel guidance before Thanksgiving break.
As a result of Thanksgiving gatherings, we are seeing COVID infection surges across the state.
We know everyone is experiencing quarantine fatigue, but it is important for families to understand that you will be held accountable for travel to any restricted areas. The state and local board of health do not allow us to pull away from the public health expectations in this regard — it is a public health emergency with life and death implications. Not traveling to restricted areas is part of our community compact with each other to keep our community safe.
While we hope that you and your family will stay put during December break, we know we cannot control your decisions.
The Ruvna COVID attestation will ask about travel during the break and fines will be levied for those who do not comply with travel and reporting expectations.
While we know this December break will look different from how it has in years gone by, it is our mindset and how we frame events for our children and community that helps to make sense of things and build resiliency.
