Dear Natick Family and Community Members:
I am pleased to say that the doubling effect of the current COVID surge seems to have slowed. Some schools have had small increases, and others have reduced or stayed steady. Please continue to join us in masking in the coming week. I will be back in touch to remind everyone of this and to test on Wednesday to aid in the management of this virus.
Many of you have emailed to ask about "in-school transmission." Since DESE has changed distancing, large gatherings are allowed in and out of schools, and we are no longer contact tracing at school, we can't determine what is in-school transmission vs. community transition and report those rates to you.
However, these numbers show a small slow down. Let's focus on personal responsibility and virus management within our families so the entire community stays safe.
Enjoy the weekend. The summer heat up is upon us. We have air-conditioned spaces in every school that classes and teachers rotate as needed through them. We manage outdoor time, PE classes, and heat indexes. Auxiliary ACs have been added, as we do each spring, in our known hot areas. Sending your children to school in light clothes and layers with water bottles is always a good idea.
Thank you!
Anna

Important Reminder for Families from Health Services
Please pick up your sick children as soon as possible
Please have a plan to pick up your sick child from school should the need arise.
With increases in COVID cases and other illnesses in our schools, our health clinics can get crowded if students wait an extended period of time for pick up. Ideally, students should be picked up within 15-20 minutes of notification.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our schools safe and healthy.

Natick Education Foundation
Annual Teacher Tribute Drive
As we come to the end of another school year, give your favorite teacher(s), staff, or administrators a gift with meaning—a tribute gift to the Natick Education Foundation (NEF). NEF accepts gifts starting at $25 to honor and recognize the people who work with your children every day. Honorees are acknowledged with a letter from NEF and their principals are notified as well.
NEF is a 501c3 non-profit. Your tribute donations are tax-deductible and are not subject to the financial gift limits.
Your donation will both celebrate the individuals or teams as well as support the work of NEF including grants, professional development, and scholarships to graduating seniors.

Changes Coming to Universal Free Lunch Program
Summer lunch program also ending
As you may have heard on the news, the recent appropriations package passed by Congress does not include extending the current free school lunch program past June 30, 2022. As a result we’re unable to provide universal free meals as we have the last two years, beginning with the 2022-23 school year. What does this mean for you?
NPS will return to the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and our Summer Eats sites will not be available this year. Free and reduced price meals will only be offered to students directly certified for these meals or approved through a household application (available July 1). We understand that this is a big change for all, and we’re notifying you now so you’re aware you’ll need to re-adjust to meal charges after such a long time without having to worry about it. We’ll keep you updated on any other developments from our partners at DESE and the USDA.
