Instrumental Music Program

Natick Public Schools Instrumental Lesson Program 2021-2022

Fall Semester Band and Lessons

We are excited to announce that we are resuming the lesson and band programs 4-12.

Grades 4-6 are remote until further notice. After opening the school year, we will revisit this policy (November or so).

Grades 7-12 are in person, following protocols approved by School Committee.

Exceptions can be made through the Music Office for Students in 7-12 to take lessons remotely. Please direct questions to cchisholm@natickps.org .

All bands will meet this fall. The Natick protocols exceed the recommendations that have been put forth by DESE. Those protocols have been sent out by the School office.

4th grade band

Band will start up a little later than usual, so that we can gauge how the protocols are working at the beginning of the school year. There are protocols for band including masks, bell covers, distancing, and open spaces.

We have put music protocols in place based on an ongoing study at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and feel that aerosol spread from wind instruments is largely misunderstood. However, we understand that some families would prefer to do lessons, but not band. This can be arranged. Again, please contact cchisholm@natickps.org to discuss.

Payments for lessons can be made by check to:

Instrumental Music Payments
15 West Street
Natick, MA 01760
Attn: Craig Chisholm

Or use a credit card/debit card for payment through Unipay. This method is also noted on the sign up form.

Please note that scheduling doesn't happen until September, but we must receive payment before we can schedule your lesson.

It is always our recommendation that students in middle school take private lessons; this kind of personal attention is most effective for learning. We acknowledge that it is more expensive. Students at our elementary schools will be placed in class or duo lessons.

Lesson pricing is per semester. (15 weeks of lessons per semester.) Lessons are 30 minutes per week, except by request (pro-rated).

For lessons in 9-12, sign-ups, scheduling, and billing are handled by teachers. Feel free to reach out to your teacher to schedule, or contact Mr. Chisholm, letting him know that you are writing to schedule lessons with a teacher. Lessons will be $58 per hour, prorated by length.

Please note that our vendor for rental and repair is David French Music of Westborough. To rent an instrument, please check out the David French Music website. If you have questions, you can email them at sales@davidfrenchmusic.com or call at (508) 366-5994.
