The Natick Public Schools Libraries' mission is to ensure all students are effective users and producers of ideas and information.
About the Library:
Book circulation / Checkout policies:
Kindergarten and First Grade - 1 book
Second Grade - 2 books
Third Grade - 3 books
Fourth Grade - 4 books
Loan Period - 1 week with one renewal; exceptions are made for additional renewals
Project Books - renewed until the assignment is complete
Overdue and damaged book policy:
Overdue notices are issued with a follow-up email to the family if the book is not returned within a reasonable time. Verbal reminders are also given during library class. A request is made to the family to replace the lost or damaged book.
Donations in the form of books (not money) are always welcome.
Readers Advisory: How do we help students find that just right book!
Students are encouraged to choose books that they can read independently, or in the case of emergent readers, that they will enjoy through the illustrations. Assistance will be provided in the library, if necessary. Occasionally, if a student has a hard time finding a "just right book," the classroom teacher may be consulted.
Volunteering in our library:
Volunteers are most welcome to assist in the day to day activities in the library. A consistent weekly or every other week commitment enables the volunteer to become expert with library processes, which include reading to the class, checking in and out of books using the Destiny Library system, re-shelving books, and helping students locate books.
Library Paraprofessional: Ms. Maria Young
“Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life. Libraries change lives for the better.” Sidney Sheldon
